The bark is variable going from smooth with an unpredictable, short stocking, to covering the vast majority of the storage compartment, sinewy, thick or inexactly held, dim, yellow or red-darker, once in a while exceptionally coarse, thick, dull dark colored to dark; shedding from the upper appendages to leave a smooth, white or yellowish surface.
