Adirondack Spruce Is used on tops which has strong and clear tone. It is an excellent top with great sound.
Origin: Eastern North America
Density 400-500 kg/m3
Also known as Eastern red or Appalachian spruce,
Red Spruce compares very similarly with Sitka Spruce in terms of mechanical properties. It has a fine, even texture, and a consistently straight dark grain albeit with some variety of width variations.
Adirondack is even more dynamic than Sitka, with a higher ceiling for volume. The payoff is the ability to drive an Addie top hard and hear it get louder and louder without losing clarity; it’s hard to outplay it.
It is also an excellent tonewood, and is used in many higher-end acoustic guitars and violins, as well as musical soundboard.
Botanical Name: Picea Rubens
